Ladybird was found in rural MO. A plea was sent out for help and we were lucky to have a spot for her. She tested positive for heartworms, looked pretty old or just worn, we could not tell, but we can't just not take care of her. Since we have had her, she has been treated for the heartworms, updated on all vaccinations, and is on preventatives for all kinds of stuff. Her fur is better, the bald spots have filled in, she has gained weight like she should, and now we are just waiting for her to rest up a while and to go in heat so we can know if she was already spayed or not. She is older but not as old as we had thought...maybe 4-5, but we’ve been told she is a couch potato, a snuggle bug, and loves people. Ladybird is waiting for the right one, she will let us know. She is a doll baby, easy to walk, just plain easier than redbones usually are...but she has that howl when she sees you walk away and she likes you. Think about coming to meet her at an event she will attend, usually the PetCo in Fenton. If you love hounds but don't get one because they jump fences, run like crazy, have all kinds of hunting dog habits you don't like, well this one has none of that stuff...just the look and a howl when she sees you, lol. She is beautiful.

Special Needs: Ladybird has had her last injections to treat heartworms. The vet says she has done extremely well. She will need to be retested in a year to assure the heartworms were sufficiently treated. But, we are confident that she will test negative after a year. It take that long for the antibodies to leave the body. She is to remain on heartworm preventatives, just as normally expected and receive all the vet recommended vaccinations and preventatives...although it is not anymore than any other beloved pet.
