Meet Mr. Sammy!  Sammy was found on some railroad tracks, all alone and very scared.  His sweet little face was plastered all over Facebook and the radio but no one came forward to claim this darling little black Shih Tzu mix.  Sammy tested positive for heartworms and badly needed a dental.  Piedmont Pound Paws situated him with a foster, updated him on all his vaccinations and preventatives, and he’s had his dental and his heartworm treatment. All he is in need of is his neuter after 8 weeks, a re-test in 6 months, and his forever home. He is available to adopt with the promise to keep him calm while he recoups, have him neutered after the 8 weeks from his heartworm treatment, keep him always on preventatives, have him re-tested, and love him forever.

Upon first meeting this handsome guy, he is a little timid but quickly warms up. Shih Tzu's were bred to be a domestic companion dog and is 100% an indoor dog.  They are known for their playful, loving, even tempered nature and Sammy is certainly all of these.  He loves sitting in your lap and likes nothing better than to be walked on a leash.  If off leash, Sammy will require a fenced in yard but be aware that his breed cannot tolerate being left out in the heat.
